about Lucy

Dr Lucy Tinning is Europe’s only clinical psychologist specialising in the needs of women who experience Pelvic Girdle Pain. She has more than ten years of experience in the profession and has worked with hundreds of women.  Her mission is to raise awareness of Pelvic Girdle Pain and empower women with the condition, in order to end suffering during and after pregnancy and the ripple effect of lack of awareness of pain on mental health, quality of life and the familial experience.

At the root, Lucy’s work is about the reclamation of womanhood, striving to move us societally into a space where women and their bodies are revered and honoured.

Lucy was born and raised in Saudi Arabia and spent much of her early life traveling extensively. These experiences sparked her interest in different cultures and societal norms, particularly where the role and value of women is concerned. Lucy bore witness to and experienced the rigid systems within which some women exist, where having agency and freedom is stifled.

After many years outside of the middle east Lucy returned to Kuwait to work, soon after becoming pregnant. The juxtaposition of a traumatic childbirth experience in which her son was born 7 weeks prematurely combined with the compassionate nurture she received from Eastern careworkers reinforced Lucy’s commitment to what has become her life’s work today. The blend of Eastern philosophy which honours the postnatal woman combined with Western therapeutic modalities supported Lucy’s slow but enlightening recovery. This experience shook and shifted Lucy into a deep transformation which served to fuel her passion for women’s health and healing and her drive to forge ahead with her mission.

Lucy has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and is a registered Psychologist with the UK Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (efpa; EuroPsy;) this is recognised by the Berufsverband Deutscher Psychologinnen und Psychologen. She is also a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and as a trained EMDR practitioner, has membership with the EMDR Association UK & Ireland and EMDR Europe.
